Subject Areas

Students must demonstrate their knowledge of their subject areas through notable achievement in relevant majors (3.0 or higher GPA in the content area), or through testing (Praxis II or ACTFL). Students planning on licensing in a Foreign Language will also need to get a recommendation from their foreign language major advisor.

In addition, elementary teachers must also take the Wisconsin Foundation of Reading test. In preparation for this test, please view the preparation materials provided by Wisconsin Foundation of reading.

Note: The state superintendent has adopted the 190 version of the Foundations of Reading Test effective September 1, 2022, with a passing score of 233. This test became available to test takers beginning on August 31, 2022.
